Pathward President Anthony Sharett joined a panel discussion with other financial experts who shared perspectives to answer the question: What Does the Future of Digital Finance Look Like 5 Years Out? The panel took place at the American Banker Digital Banking Conference, held June 1-4, in Boca Raton, Florida, and included experienced leaders representing banks and financial institutions, financial technology companies, venture capitalists and management consultants.
Sharett discussed a variety of topics revolving around possible future financial trends, including the regulatory environment, stablecoin payments and the implementation of artificial intelligence. Senior Vice President of Strategy and Content for American Banker Live Media, Holly Sraeel, moderated the discussion, raising questions about the safety and privacy risks of digital finance.
On the topic of co-creation and its impact on fintechs, Sharett shared he thinks the sky is the limit for banks that can productize their commercial platform with regulatory overlay and use it to help fintechs increase speed to revenue and mitigate risk while anticipating the needs of customers. He said that banks that have migrated to be tech-forward, software-based banks and still have a charter are the hub and spokes to money movement and embedded finance, and the innovation that can come from that will be great.
